Gibraltar – My Second Home!

There is so much to tell everyone. On 15th January, I travelled British Airways with my Carer Nick, and, having checked in to The Holiday Inn Express, we immediately went on The Sunbourn for welcome drinks and a meal. Things never recovered from this moment onwards, and here is my first weeks diary of adventures.

16th Jan: Explored the Town with Nick and visited Europa Point – the southernmost point of Gibraltar. Our evening meal was at The Irish Bar, and a delicious shepherds pie.

17th Jan: My Birthday Meal, with those attending; Keith, Jerome, Will, Johnny, Yvonne, Michaela, Abi, Lucas, Paul, Dad, Debra, Carl and Nick. David and the staff were wonderful as always, and I enjoyed my chicken korma, followed by a chocolate birthday cake.

18th Jan: I went on a special taxi ride up The Rock, where I saw the light show in St Michaels Cave, had a nice chat with the Macaques!, and visited the WW2 Tunnels, where there is now a Spitfire suspended from the ceiling. I then returned to The Irish Bar for food and drinks with my good friends John and Yvonne.

19th Jan: A chill out day with the obligatory roast dinner at Moniques, where Frederico and the staff looked after me. This is also the place for the best lemon meringue in the world!

20th Jan: After a full weekend of eating, it was time to start my PT sessions with Jerome, who made me work very hard! I also met my new friend Saskia, who works on The Sunbourn, and invited me to a Corporate Event on board the ship!

21st Jan: I had a new experience on The Sunbourn where Dad and Debra treated me to a relaxing massage, and, as I enjoyed it so much, I am going again next week! My massage finished just 15 minutes before happy hour ended (what a shocker!), thus meaning a few drinks and a meal in the restaurant!

22nd Jan: Back to the gym with Jerome, where I met a new friend Chrissy. In the evening, we visitited The Edinburgh Arms with my friend Paul, where Debra particularly enjoyed eating the octopus! I also made yet another new friend called Fatima.

23rd Jan: Thursdays is a very important night, as it is the weekly Pizza Night, and yes, I went with my friends, Paul, Kathryn, Will, Judy, Kevin, Andy, Carey – and of course, Dad! On this occassion, Pizza was substituted for Lasagna as thats one of my favourire dishes.

24th Jan: Somewhat now becoming a necessity, another PT Session at the gym, and then we met Debra at The Irish Bar where we had a bottle of wine (between us!). Shockingly we ate at the apartment for once, well, technically, as we had the Pizza leftovers from the night before!

25th Jan: I was up at 0800 ready to walk and meet the running club. I was made very welcome as always, with the walk/run finishing at The Piccadilly where we had breakfast. I then went back through the town and looked in the sales, before joining Yvonne and John for Saturday drinks and food at The Irish Bar (becoming a familiar haunt don’t you think?!)

26th Jan: Somewhat of a chill day, though we did make it into town, and had sunday roast at The Irish Bar (somewhat predictable!) with John and Yvonne.

All this, and I still have another week to go! I am loving my time here, and making lots of new friends.
