James Fielding – Lord’s Indoor Cricket Centre Head Coach

It has been fantastic to meet Tom and an incredible experience working with him—not only to deepen his understanding of cricket but also to help improve his fitness and overall movement. As a result, he now has opportunities to score runs against a wider range of bowling styles. What began with regular flat deliveries has progressed to using different coloured balls and even challenging bouncing deliveries to make it harder for Tom.

Given the challenges Tom encounters, it’s truly inspiring for all of us to watch him demonstrate such skill in his batting. He not only connects with the ball consistently but is also beginning to position himself to find the gaps in the field, a challenge that keeps me on my toes as I try to plan my next ball!

I am looking forward to our next session and hopefully getting the chance to take a few wickets or even manage a run-out, though that is more of a hope than an expectation!
