My epic adventure

Day 1:

Today I start my epic adventure. I leave my home at Aylmerton for the Holiday Inn, Newbury Park.

Day 2:

I am volunteering at The London Transport Museum, Covent Garden. My Buddy for the day is Bill and it’s Laura’s last day, so we are meeting up for a drink when I have finished. I will be travelling on the Underground to Tottenham Court Road, and Dad can push me in my wheelchair to the museum! He is happy about doing that!

Day 3:

Debra and Katie join us for a trip to see Hairspray, followed by a lovely meal and some sightseeing to finish off. My travels take me on the Central and Jubilee Lines, and at 11pm, it’s time for bed. What a great day.

Day 4 and 5:

I have been busy working at The Transport Museum with ‘Buddy’ Brian, and Dad has been at The Oval to buy some tickets to see the Cricket! I have been on my first DLR train ride, and Katie continues to drink alcohol before she starts University!

Day 6:

We arrive at my caravan in St Osyth for a relaxing weeks holiday. This is my last visit as we are buying a new caravan at Allhallows, Kent. I can then travel from Ebbsfleet to St Pancras in under 20 minutes to work at the Museum, and visit Katie. Dad’s built up a collection of bottles over the years!

Day 11: Not Such an Epic Day!

Having spent 6 relaxing days at the caravan since I last wrote anything, things have taken a dramatic turn for the worse. Dad has been taken ill and admitted to Colchester Hospital. These are worrying times as it transpires that covid has finally caught up with him. Once he returns from the hospital, our only option is to return home where he can self isolate. What a terrible way to end our holiday.

Update 10th September:Dad has made a full recovery, but sadly I was unable to escape the dreaded covid. Thankfully I only had mild symptoms. Today is my 10th day of isolation, and my lateral flow test is negative. This is good news as I am back volunteering at the museum next week! We have since decided to now keep my caravan at its current location in St Osyth, as it is closer to home.
